OK, Punkin Chunkin isn't for everyone. But if you like odd sporting events that attract a fun loving crowd (not necessarily referring to adult beverage drinkers) and you like food and games and country music and mechanical bull riding and camping and watching punkins explode and all terrain vehicles zooming around everywhere and tattoos and adult beverages (not necessarily saying everyone is drunk) and real drama, then you will love Punkin Chunkin. This little known sporting event started years ago in the back of a few farmer's yards to help cope with an otherwise boring seasonal time (winter). It now hosts over 70,000 people and takes place over 3 days in the mid fall. It attracts people from all over the country and brings in some pretty big name singers to entertain most of the night. We went to see it this past weekend just so we could say we did. It was cold and windy on Friday and Saturday due to the remnants of a hurricane (now a noreaster) but Sunday was just perfect weather. I can't wait to hear who this years winner will be. For the very curious, you may go to their website Click Here and get all the skinny....and you can Click Here to see more photos. Enjoy!!
